We kept the three rooms we’d booked for my bridal weekend, even after my father passed away, and tried to make the best of a difficult time. The hotel itself was beautiful, spotless, and very well kept. Having a direct connection to the casino was fun and convenient. What made the stay harder was the front desk. Most of the team felt cold, with little warmth or even a friendly greeting, and we had a couple of check-in problems too. The evening manager was the one bright spot, much more helpful and accommodating than the women at the desk earlier in the day. The hotel has a lot going for it, but I wish the staff experience had been better.
Hyatt Regency JFK Airport was high quality, and I appreciated the excellent service, especially the early check-in they allowed because of my Globalist status. Keep in mind it isn’t actually on the airport grounds. The terminals were about a 10-minute taxi ride away, so plan for a short commute rather than walking to your gate.
We chose this hotel because it was near the airport and parking was included with the room. We expected top-class rooms from a well-known four-star brand, but the room was plain and had nothing especially notable about it. For one night, it cost more than our two nights in a beautiful Las Vegas apartment. We arrived around 1 a.m. after driving from Boston. The desk staff weren’t very welcoming, though the man who brought our bags to the room was nice. I’d told the desk we were a family of three and needed bedding for the sofa bed. It took three attempts and an hour to get everything. The first blanket was old, crusty, and thin, like a used dog blanket. I brought it back and asked for a replacement and the missing pillows. The next delivery was just two pillows. I had to ask again for a duvet or blanket because the first one was revolting. A duvet finally arrived without a cover. By then it was 2:30 in the morning and our daughter was exhausted, so I made do by folding the top sheet over it. No one apologized or even acknowledged the problem.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and free parking was a nice perk. I hadn’t expected the airport ride to cost $25 each way, though, and there was no shuttle. Our room was clean and quiet, with good beds, coffee and tea, and a small refrigerator that didn’t get very cold. The TV remote wasn’t programmed right, so we couldn’t use our Firestick or casting device.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and parking was free. The lot is outdoors and a bit of a walk from the hotel. It rained during our stay, so my husband had to wait for it to let up before walking back. The location may be inconvenient for some. It’s around a 15-20 minute drive to the airport, and most decent restaurants are far away, which means extra Uber Eats fees for long-distance delivery. A comfortable, clean place, but the location and parking arrangement weren’t ideal for us.
