Just around the corner on West 44th, things got quiet and welcoming, even though all the Midtown attractions were an easy walk away. The location worked perfectly, close to Times Square and everything else we wanted to see without being in the middle of the bustle. Staff were attentive and knew how to make a luxury hotel feel warm. The decor, furnishings, cleanliness, and amenities were all impeccable. This stay was a big part of a terrific trip, and I’d readily recommend the hotel.

Everyone, from the front desk to housekeeping, was warm, professional, and keen to help throughout my stay. I felt welcome right away. The Iroquois has real boutique hotel charm and character, with a sophisticated Midtown feel and none of the Times Square commotion right outside. Its spot on a quiet, tree-lined street is unusually peaceful for such a convenient location, just steps from Bryant Park, Times Square, and Grand Central Terminal. I felt completely safe walking around at any hour. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting New York.

Ben in the breakfast area was the standout for us. He was warm, helpful with sightseeing ideas, and fun to talk with. Our kids especially liked telling him where they hoped to go. Anthony welcomed us at check-in with chocolate and bottled water for the younger children, and the other male desk staff were friendly and professional. We stayed in a PH Suite shortly before Christmas, under my husband’s reservation. After booking, he called about adding the Christmas package with the little tree, but a staff member whose name began with “T” said nothing could be done. That was frustrating when, less than a day later, we were offered paid early check-in and late checkout. For $3,200 USD for two nights, we expected more effort for a small request the hotel already offers. The lobby has a great feel and smells lovely. The room had that classic New York character and was generally clean, though some details were missed. The towels were clean but noticeably dingy, which surprised us at this price. We often stay at The Lincoln Hotel in Maine, a Michelin Key property, where Santal 33 bath products, a signature room spray for sale, and a lobby cafe add understated luxury. Those memorable touches were missing here. The Midtown location is excellent, within walking distance of Rockefeller Center and Times Square. The staff and location were strong, but the stay didn’t meet expectations for the cost. I’d give it 6/10.

I’ve edited this review because management reached out and made a real effort to resolve the issue. I appreciate the prompt response and resolution. I had the worst hotel experience of my life, and waited until the next day before writing about it. I’d prepaid through Hotwire for one night. Our bags had already been taken to the room, and I’d handed over my ID when Anthony at the desk asked for a card for incidentals. He wouldn’t accept my debit card for the hold. I didn’t have my physical credit card, but it was in my Apple Wallet, and the terminal supported tap-to-pay. He still insisted I had to present the physical card. I used to be a Director of Operations for a luxury hotel brand, and I know there are several ways to authorize an incidental hold. I couldn’t believe he would deny check-in on a fully prepaid reservation over this. He said I’d have to contact Hotwire for a refund. That was frustrating enough, but then Hotwire’s manager called twice asking Anthony to release it, and he refused both times. Another employee told him he could have used my debit card or Apple Pay. He replied that she could “be responsible for it” and check me in herself, but still wouldn’t do it. I’d like to think race wasn’t a factor, but his tone and actions made me feel otherwise. I’ve never been treated so badly, especially by a place that calls itself “luxury hospitality.” I filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and planned to contact hotel ownership directly. I hope they take this seriously so nobody else has to go through it.

We came to NYC for a Broadway show and a day of exploring, and The Iroquois Hotel suited our family perfectly. The location made it easy to walk to shows, Central Park, Times Square, the subway, and Fifth Avenue shopping, while still feeling calm and safe away from the busiest streets. The 60s deco-style lobby welcomed us as soon as we arrived. Fresh oranges and chilled bottled water were always at the front desk, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and full of good Manhattan tips. The hotel and our rooms were spotless and peaceful. We all slept well on the incredibly comfortable beds and pillows, and appreciated the heated bathroom floors and plush robes. We’d absolutely stay again and recommend it.
