Kimpton Hotel Eventi by IHG

At the end of our trip, we took a car arranged by the hotel to the airport, and I left my phone in it by accident. I didn’t notice until the driver had gone and I was already through security. The hotel tracked it down and helped arrange to ship it back across the country. Huge thanks to Elmer and the staff for going to that effort. I really appreciate it and will definitely stay here again. We were there a few weeks ago and had a wonderful visit. The location was phenomenal, the lobby felt warm and inviting, and housekeeping and room service were consistently kind and attentive. Thanks to everyone at the hotel!

The location was excellent, and our room had a great view. If being in the right spot matters most, this is a good pick. I’d look elsewhere for a more upscale stay, though. For what we paid, it didn’t feel like the luxury hotel it was described as. The room was small and awkwardly arranged, with a long hallway to the bedroom and barely any space between the bed and window. It felt cramped, and there was constant noise that I think came from the plumbing. The heater also made a loud thud whenever it switched on or off. Most of the service was great, though one morning the front desk woman seemed annoyed when I asked how the vouchers worked. At check-in we got complimentary breakfast vouchers, but no one explained that we needed to tell the restaurant, so we ended up paying. We also received free drink vouchers that said “drinks on us,” but the bar told us they didn’t cover alcoholic drinks. I’m not sure why I’d go to the bar if I didn’t want an alcoholic drink. I booked through my Amex travel portal, where it was part of their hotel collection. I gave it three stars for those reasons.

The team went above and beyond during our stay last weekend, including during the blizzard. Management asked what they could do to make the stay five-star, and I casually said a small fridge would be nice. They had one brought up just a few hours later. It wasn’t a huge request, but I appreciated that they asked and followed through. We had room 1005. It was more than adequate for NYC, even with the street department jackhammering outside our side of the hotel for two days. The work had to get done sometime. The shared spaces were in excellent condition, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Check-in was great. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it and the bar were busy. Would I rather the hotel were across from Central Park? Sure. Still, the people here made for a really good stay.

The room had plenty of space for us, and the tub was a nice extra, though it could have used a more thorough cleaning. I also noticed dust on top of all the fixtures and doors, like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. It’s a nice hotel if you want to be close to a lot of things. Just know there’s no water refill station or ice machine, so you have to ask the front desk for bottled water or pay for the ones in the room.
