Opera House Hotel

The continental breakfast was tasty, and they even had Eggo toaster waffles. Our room was comfortable and had some nice attention to detail. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we loved their recommendations for Perivian and Mexican restaurants around the corner. The Metro was only two short blocks away. There were some characters on the walk there, but we never felt unsafe. It just felt like being in the biggest city in the US. I only took a picture of the shower gels and creams, so I hope that’s useful.

The staff were definitely friendly, but the room we were first given had black spots and hair on the mattress. They moved us to a better room, which had dirty, damp brown towels and a TV that didn’t work. When we arrived, two young women were outside smoking marijuana. The hotel has potential, but it needs a lot of care. I don’t know if they were short-staffed, but I don’t think I’ll return.

The hotel was neat and very clean, with big, spacious rooms, though there wasn’t much of a view. Being in the heart of the Bronx was an experience, and the staff were friendly. Abdul was especially nice and a cool guy. Breakfast could use more choices than croissants and cereal, maybe scrambled eggs and sausages. It wasn’t a big deal, though, and gave us a chance to eat at local restaurants. I really enjoyed the stay and wish I could’ve stayed longer.

The area around the hotel felt sketchy, but that’s the South Bronx. I knew what to expect and felt safe, even at night, though that’s just my personal opinion. The rooms were cozy and clean, with modern bathrooms. Breakfast was good, and there was tea, coffee, and hot chocolate available 24/7. A great three-night stay with everything I needed, including a fitness room.
