The staff serving breakfast and housekeeping were patient and kind. Breakfast gets extremely busy, but they keep the food stocked and the area clean. You can ask for a takeout container and eat in your room, though the containers aren’t put out. The location just off Times Square is excellent, close to everything but on a quieter street. Rooms are small, as they are at Times Square hotels, but they’ve made good use of the space with plenty of drawers and shelves. We knew the elevators could be slow at busy times, around 8-11 am, so we requested a second-floor room and planned to use the stairs. Finding them was difficult: they wind through housekeeping, and the front desk didn’t seem keen to explain where they were. I assume they don’t want guests going through housekeeping, which I understand, but it made me worry about how people would manage in an emergency. Then alarms went off around midnight. A sister hotel had a burst pipe, so the alarm wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Guests rushed to the stairs and got lost in the maze, and we had to guide people. It took about an hour for the alarms to stop, and we never got an announcement saying there was no danger or asking us to stay in our rooms for 15 minutes. The elevator and stair situation feels like a real safety concern. It’s a decent choice if you expect crowds and bring patience.

I had a good stay. The staff were cordial and efficient, and the room was quiet on the 37th floor. It was small, as NYC rooms are, but clean and functional. Breakfast was great, with a large dining area. The lobby felt cramped, though I got through it quickly. Recommend.

Our flight was canceled because of the snowstorm on checkout day, but the staff were so helpful. They let us stay, and after we showed a voucher from our travel agents, they checked us out and back in, keeping us in the same room. When we eventually left, they stored our luggage, arranged a taxi to the airport, and there was free tea and coffee downstairs. The staff were friendly and helpful from arrival to departure. We’d read about the lifts and breakfast, but breakfast worked out fine each morning. The breakfast staff were lovely, kept things tidy, and replenished the food. Our room was spacious and clean, with great-smelling shampoo and soap, a hairdryer, and clean towels. Housekeeping came every other day. To use the lifts you select your floor and swipe your room card. We didn’t wait long, even after a false fire alarm in the early hours; the evacuation was organized and we got back to our room smoothly. The man outside selling bus tours was especially friendly. He greeted us every morning with a smile, chatted about his family, and was funny. If you see him, say hello. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The room cleaning was the one letdown. The dust looked just as it had before the room was cleaned, and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we even got a complimentary upgrade. At check-in, they clearly explain the elevator and breakfast issues, and the traffic-light system shows when a breakfast seat is guaranteed or when it may be difficult later. Even during peak hours, we never waited more than two minutes for an elevator.
