Wyndham Garden Fresh Meadows Flushing

The lobby smelled like raw sewage, and my room wasn't cleaned properly. There was toothpaste left on the counter, holes in the towels and sheets, and no hangers or clock. While I was napping, housekeeping walked right in without knocking or identifying themselves. The front desk looked into it and said it was the housekeeping manager. Bad business. Carolina and Robert were the bright spots, along with breakfast. Both employees were friendly, professional, and helpful with my concerns. The good front desk service is why I gave two stars. Otherwise, I'd give the hotel zero. It seems to get less upkeep than it did years ago.

The place was clean, nicely decorated, and quiet during our stay. It's reasonably priced for what you get, and I felt safe and comfortable. Restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and convenience stores are all within walking distance. The staff were friendly and quick to respond when we needed anything. The rooms are small and close together, so noise from outside your door can carry, though it stayed fairly quiet for us. For a NYC hotel, this place raises the bar without raising the price. I'll definitely return.

Parking is the main drawback if you're driving. There's no public parking, as far as I could tell, and valet costs $25 a night. Still, I'd come back. The hotel has a very modern look with lots of marble, and the staff were friendly. The room could be bigger, but everything seemed brand new and in good condition.

The smell was awful throughout the hotel. Whatever they use to mop needs changing. The rooms were far too small and not cleaned properly, and mine smelled like an ashtray despite this being a non-smoking hotel. The complimentary breakfast was just okay, with food that looked like frozen items heated in an oven. The ladies' bathroom on the LL was especially bad, with lots of dead bugs around the toilet and sinks. It seemed they cleaned those fixtures and forgot the rest of the bathroom. Parking isn't free, and no one told me about the $25-a-day valet charge until I arrived. The lot is tiny, and you're lucky to get a spot. They seem to look out for their own instead of guests. Don't stay here, it's the worst choice you could make. The Russian lady at the front desk was very nice, and the bed was comfortable, but everything else was bad. Like I said, don't stay here!
