Quality Inn near Sunset Park

The staff were great, helpful whenever they could be, and check-in was easy. Nearby, you can walk to a couple of small convenience and grocery stores, Costco, a liquor store, Industry City, and lots of other places. The lobby also has a cute accent wall made with imitation greenery. My room was small but very clean, with clean linens, a TV, fridge, AC unit, and bedside lamps with both USB and regular plugs. There was also a power strip on the counter. The shower got nice and hot. Breakfast was basic and heavy on carbs, but decent, and the make-your-own waffle batter was tasty.

The location was the only good thing: it’s quiet, and transportation isn’t far away. There was hair on the bed and in the shower, so we disinfected. I didn’t say anything because it was late and I just wanted to relax. We checked in at 12 am, and the man at the front desk asked for a $50 deposit that he said would be returned at checkout. I asked him three times if he was sure, and he said yes. But there was no $50 when we checked out. Does anyone know whether they return the deposit? Also, I didn’t sleep well at all because something kept beeping all damn night. Never again!

The place itself was good, though the surrounding area felt a bit sketchy. We got kicked out of the breakfast buffet right at 10 am, when it closed. The worker was disrespectful, banged things around, and put the food away, then went on to make his own waffle. He didn’t understand English and started shouting at us in a language we couldn’t understand. We told the receptionist later, but all she said was, “Okay, I will check.”

It stayed warm even during the blizzard, and the room comfortably fit us for our 5-day stay in new york. The premises were clean, the service staff were lovely, and for the price it was a small but generally cozy stay. The free breakfast bar was a little lacking but did the job. We did find holes in our sheets. The place could be improved, though my complaints are negligible.
