Royal Hotel Bronx

We arrived around 2am for our two-night booking, 5/9/25-5/11/25, and the first room was appalling. The sheets and bathroom were nasty, there were dead and live roaches in the tub, the window was broken, and the curtains were dirty. I told the person there right away I couldn't sleep in it. I took pictures and sent them to booking, but I have a new phone now and can't access them. There was nowhere else nearby, so my Fiance and I stayed. They moved us to another room, but it was the same. The guy gave me fresh sheets, and when I pulled the old ones off, the mattress stains were so bad I nearly vomited. I was awake most of the night. We got up at 7am, and I asked the front desk to cancel the second night, saying I was willing to pay for the one we'd stayed. My sister and her daughter had a separate room and the exact same problems. We were promised a refund for both nights. My sister got hers, but I never did. Four months later there was still nothing. They said they'd sent the money back to booking, but I contacted both sides and nothing happened. When I called recently, the guy recognized me, pretended the phone was cutting out, and hung up. Now no one answers, and I think they know my number. I have a ga number. The place looks fair from outside, but inside it's another story. It's very unprofessional to rent rooms in this condition. I paid turn $275, and even though it's not a lot, it's the principle. I've never dealt with a company that won't treat customers professionally. I'm really upset with this hotel and booking, and I won't book through booking again. I'm sure this isn't the first complaint about this property. All money isn't good money. Don't stay here. During the few hours I was there, I was itching and am certain they have bed bugs. We took everything to the car, then threw away our clothes once we reached a new hotel. I nearly scrubbed my skin off. Booking, Priceline, and Trip.com should remove this place so it doesn't make them look bad too.

The location was the best part of my stay, convenient enough to earn four stars. Service was dependable and around a standard three-star level, while the rooms were more basic than I'd expected. Even so, it was a functional, reliable base for my trip, and I had a positive four-star experience overall.

My boyfriend and I stayed on the 7th floor and give Royal Bronx Hotel four stars. It was a perfect location for us, with the subway a 14-minute walk away and plenty of city energy around the hotel, which we love when we visit New York. It's budget-friendly and gave us what we needed: a clean, simple place to sleep without drama. We'd seen a few worrying reviews about pests and such, but our stay went smoothly. No frills, no surprises, which suited us.

We had a terrible stay and won't return. I booked a two-bedroom for our family of four, but somehow the system glitched and reserved only one bed. At reception I explained we needed two beds, but they said the hotel was full and it wasn't possible. In the room there were cockroaches in the bathroom and closet, no fridge for drinks, and noise from inside and outside, including everything from the street. Two of us had to sleep on the floor. We had booked two nights, Thursday and Friday. We left at 10am the next day and came back at 8pm to find the room uncleaned and the dirty towels unchanged. Staff then said we owed an extra $60 because the booking was for only two people. I offered to pay if they would move us to a room with two beds, but they refused. This was one of our worst experiences and the customer service was awful.
