The Bowery Hotel does everything well while keeping things understated. The lobby feels welcoming, with several places to sit alone or with a group. Every staff member is first rate. The rooms have a throwback feel, like things were made with care, good craftsmanship, and quality, and they've thought of many of the essentials you'll need. The Lower East Side has its own cool vibe, and if you want to explore farther, several subway lines are a short walk away. One of the best hotels in NYC, if not the best.

The bed was so comfortable, and the room was spacious for a NYC hotel, which matters when you're a woman with a bunch of luggage. The restrooms were cute and charming. I was sad the iconic bears were out of stock, but that just gives me a reason to stay again. The staff were amazing. They were behind on inspecting our room, so they comped our breakfast and drinks. Guests can also use bikes and get reserved seating at the lobby restaurant. Highly recommend!

Dave, the Asian guy with a ponytail, was a gracious and considerate server when my friend and I had tea on the patio. Beautiful setting, great service, and delicious food. Well done.

I always love photographing weddings at The Bowery Hotel. The spacious patio is a standout for cocktail hour, with great views and a lively feel, and the hotel has multiple indoor and outdoor spaces that make it flexible for rain plans. The getting-ready suites are roomy and have beautiful terraces for pictures. Inside, it feels like old New York in the best way, with warm brick, iron details, chic lounges, and floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in beautiful natural light all day. There are classic NYC photo spots throughout and just outside the hotel, including a vintage taxi. The on-site team is wonderful to work with. Sabrina, the events director, keeps everything organized and makes the day feel effortless for couples and vendors. Hospitality is lovely, too, right down to the Bowery Bear in guest rooms. He's so cute! If you're looking for an iconic NYC wedding venue, you have to tour The Bowery Hotel.

I had a deeply upsetting experience at the Bowery Hotel bar. After I bought drinks, two staff members, who were racist and intimidating, denied both me and my friend a place to sit or even stand. They were rude and dismissive, and the way they treated us felt intimidating. I'd stayed at the hotel before and had also stopped at the bar as a walk-in for drinks. On those earlier visits, nobody told me that only hotel guests could have a place in the lobby. This time, both my friend and I felt we were targeted because of our race. The staff showed no interest in explaining what was happening or trying to resolve it. They were cold and disrespectful, as if our presence was an inconvenience despite having accepted our business. There is a difference between enforcing a policy and alienating customers. Courtesy was entirely absent, and the service fell far below what I'd expect from a venue trading on its atmosphere and prestige. I won't return, and I wouldn't expect professionalism or basic respect. Served by Janio.
