The Park Ave North

The train is right there, so it was noisy, but we slept great and didn’t mind. We were glad to have our own bathroom instead of sharing one with the floor, and the subway was within walking distance. The room was small, as expected, though also somehow bigger than I’d expected, if that makes sense lol. No breakfast or other amenities, but we were hardly there. It worked perfectly for my husband and me on our two-night visit. Good for a short stay.

I needed a room near my neighborhood for a procedure, and I loved this hotel. The room was really clean and had everything I needed. Metro-North is just across the street, but the noise was still okay. The front desk woman was extremely helpful, and check-in was easy. The rate was reasonable, and I’d recommend it. If you see a room online, book right away because there aren’t many and they can sell out quickly.

I had to call four times just to get into the building and check in, even though it was only 7 pm. The front door is supposed to stay locked, but it was unlocked. When I called the “emergency line,” they told me they’d deal with it tomorrow. This isn’t an area where leaving a door unsecured all night seems acceptable.

The subway is nearby and turned out to be easy to figure out, even for first-timers. The rooms are small, but they suited us for a couple of nights. We only spoke with staff at check-in, and they were friendly and helpful. Their suggestions were great: Ginjan for breakfast and Red Rooster for dinner and live music. Don’t let Harlem put you off.
