The elevator problems made what should have been a birthday trip unbearable. We had to wait while elevators were full, and I missed my flight after waiting for one. I ended up at LaGuardia Airport on my birthday in tears, while my family’s surprise party waited at home with loved ones who’d travelled to celebrate. I cried through the flight back and was too upset to celebrate the next day. I’d changed my flight to get home early because the situation had escalated, but Hilton’s prepaid reservation made getting a refund difficult. Elevators were under construction, and even when operating they could take over an hour to catch. The hotel kept hosting large conventions, which made things worse. I also found a pile of congealed gel soap in the shower that housekeeping should have dealt with. I left a message for Front Desk Manager Alberto Benitez. He said he’d tried the prepaid Hilton line, but they told him he couldn’t process a refund and I had to request it myself. Hilton customer service then told me Alberto could authorize one. I spent more than an hour on hold with Anne, the Hilton Diamond Manager, while she tried to reach him. I sent him multiple texts and waited online with her, but he never responded. Anne showed no kindness or empathy. She said she was the highest person at the Diamond desk, couldn’t escalate it, and told me to call again the next day when Alberto was available. As a Diamond member and loyal Hilton owner, I’m appalled by how Hilton representatives treat members, especially high-status ones. This is not a premium property, and I have no desire to return. The way Hilton handles complaints has left a lasting bad impression.

The happy hour on the 44th floor was so much fun, and the appetizers were delicious. They had meatballs, wings, chip dip, and a fruit and cheese platter. The place was clean, and the people working there were really friendly and went above and beyond. My room stayed clean and stocked, even when I left several times a day.

Our room was below standard for a premium property. The shower knob was loose and felt unsafe, the mini fridge didn’t work, and the room’s general condition left a lot to be desired. We’re new Hilton Grand Vacation owners, and our stay at Hilton Club New York fell well short of what we expected. We didn’t feel welcomed when we arrived. To store our bags before check-in, we were sent up to the 37th floor just to get a piece of paper, which made the process unnecessarily complicated. We couldn’t get an upgrade or late checkout, even though we had an appointment a few blocks away with an associate to discuss joining the NYC club ownership program. We were also charged to store luggage despite being there for a Hilton-related appointment. The experience has left us questioning what level of service and hospitality to expect as owners.

Rick at the front desk was very nice and helpful, but the Penthouse room was a huge letdown for the number of points it cost. I could accept the price if the features justified it. The bidet toilet wouldn’t work beyond a manual flush, and the automatic drapes were broken along with their track. Sunlight poured in every morning and woke us at 5:30am each day. There was a big crack in the bathroom sink, and the caulking behind it on the countertop honestly made me want to vomit. There wasn’t even a microwave. Very disappointing stay.

Frustrated customer on 5/31. I called to ask a simple question about laundry services, and the staff member I reached by dialing 5321 was rude and unhelpful. She said I was wrong and brushed off my question without explaining anything or offering guidance. When I asked for a manager, nobody was available to take my complaint. The elevators were a nightmare too. It took us nearly an hour to get down from the 25th floor. Some staff members’ customer service was unacceptable, and the facilities were just as frustrating.
