Motel 6 - Newark

I’ve been staying here for work since January. I usually go for four-star hotels, so I was skeptical at first, but my boss was paying. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and honest about room conditions like air conditioning, heat, noise, and riff-raff. They’ll try to work with your preferences depending on availability. They don’t tolerate after-hours activity or rude, demanding guests. The location seems to draw night crawlers who sometimes linger on the property, though the police usually weren’t far behind to run them off. I kept to myself and minded my own business, and I’d stay again. Of the five rooms I used, the pool area was the worst, always full of unsupervised kids.

I stayed here on my birthday and found the room dirty. The heating and air conditioning wouldn’t work at the same time, and the door didn’t shut properly. Someone got in and stole my wallet, phone, and laptop. The phone in the room wouldn’t work unless I paid first, so I had to go to the office and ask them to call the police. The fence was down where the thieves got in and out, and management wouldn’t pay for my belongings, saying it was due to their negligence and failure to fix the door and fence. After I complained about the break-in, they put me on the do not rent list. You’d be better off at the motel 6 at 880& Alvarado blvd or the E-Z8.

10-2-13. Calling this a dump is being kind. The rooms reek of vomit, with food and trash left on the floors by the last guest, including trash in the bathroom. There were holes in the bedding, and I couldn’t even tell if it was clean. Sleep in your car, run, anything would be better.

Other drivers had recommended this place and said there was a CDL rate, so I came. But the bed in my room hadn’t been made, it smelled like body odor, and there was brown crusty stuff on the sink. The people at the counter said they’d never heard of a CDL discount, even though one of our drivers had stayed here two days earlier and got the rate.
