Holiday Inn Express Hartford – Newington, by IHG

The breakfast was a highlight, with plenty to choose from and even the option to make your own pancakes. It’s also quiet and a nice place to relax. The hotel itself is good, but getting around is tough: there’s little real public transportation, so you end up relying on Uber, and walking feels risky because there are no sidewalks. I wish the hotel had more affordable ways to help guests get around than taxis or Uber. I don’t think Hartford is supposed to have a bus line, and you’d be lucky to spot a bus near the hotel.

I was there for a concert nearby and stayed one night. The room was comfortable, modern, and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. I’d forgotten toothpaste, and they had some at the desk. The room phone didn’t work, so I had to go downstairs to get it, though that wasn’t a major issue. There’s complimentary breakfast available, but I didn’t try it.

We were there for a wedding and didn’t have time to see the pool. Breakfast was good, with a decent range of choices. I liked the curtain.

The whole hotel feels new and was very clean, and the staff were friendly. Our two queen room was so spacious it seemed like it could fit a third queen. The bed was comfortable, and I actually like the firm pillows. It could use another light, though, since the big room felt a little dark.
