Point Plaza Suites at City Center

The staff were friendly, the room was quiet, and the price was fairly cheap. The location is nice, too, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The breakfast was sparse and cold, and the toaster didn’t work. Hallways smelled bad, though our room didn’t. The beds were made, but it looked like nothing else had been cleaned during our stay. A lot of things around the hotel were broken or in poor condition. The indoor pool was clear but very cold, and people kept coming through because both restrooms at the adjoining restaurant were out of order. We couldn’t use the in-room safe because the front desk said they’d lost all the combinations. It feels like the owners or management stopped investing in the place a long time ago. Don’t be fooled by the attractive outside.

The biggest cockroach I’ve ever seen crawled up the shower wall while I was trying to get water that wasn’t scalding hot. That was the last straw. We had no clean towels to replace the stained ones left in the used bathroom, and nobody brought any. The breakfast pictures are misleading, there was no breakfast, and the advertised pool was in complete shambles and repulsive. The manager only took $5 off our overpriced room. I could have left without being upset if it weren’t for the roaches. There are more affordable hotels with much better service. I’d avoid giving these penny pinching lazy slobs your money.

The security guard was around all the time and helped us feel safe, and the indoor pool was clean and spacious. The kids also liked taking pictures in the director’s chair outside the theater, which we enjoyed too. Breakfast was delicious and fresh every day, with very friendly staff. Our room was clean, and the hotel staff were courteous and attentive. Everyone welcomed us from arrival through checkout. We came on a Friday in August 2014 and liked the stay so much that we extended it. The amenities and affordable price make this a place we’ll return to. I recommend it for families with children and for anyone visiting nearby sights like the Yorktown Museum, about a 15 minute drive away.

The check-in took almost an hour, and the front desk seemed friendly but unsure of what they were doing. Our room smelled of cigarettes and cologne. The walls were falling apart, and the lamps had cigarette ash stains. The bathroom was dirty and moldy, the towels were tiny, and there was no comforter, just thin sheets. The TV and cable box weren’t plugged in, and one remote had no battery. We got two new remotes from the desk, but there were none available for the other room. There were lots of stains on the carpets, including white marks beside one bed, and the whole place smelled. Outside, a man was cooking on a small grill by his room, with a lot of loud people gathered there who looked pretty sketchy. I’m still waiting to see a bug. The place is a mess, and we’re leaving as soon as possible.
