Howland House Inn

The area was beautiful, about the only nice thing I can say. The new owners wouldn’t respond. My friend stayed across the hall in a room at the same price, but had a large, nice jacuzzi and a glass walk-in shower. Our bathroom was very narrow, with an old high step-in tub with jets that we also had to use as the shower. The coffee pot was broken, and despite repeated calls to the owner, nobody came to replace it. We were promised parking spaces, but there weren’t enough until the upstairs tenant left. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The daily delivery of fresh milk and orange juice in glass bottles was such a nice extra. I usually don’t like milk, but this one was so creamy it made great chocolate milk, lol. Howland House is warm, cozy, clean, and close to downtown Newport, and the Jacuzzi in the jacuzzi suite was amazing. Karen is the best, she goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I’ve stayed twice and will keep coming back as long as it’s here. Thank you, Karen, for everything. Howland House gets all my love, and if you’re visiting Newport, RI, this is the place to stay.

Karen, the Inn Keeper, made us feel like we could ask for anything, and every part of the stay exceeded what we expected. The room was lovely, everything was clean, the food was good, and the accommodations were just right. The Howland House Inn sits right in the middle of downtown Newport, with an ocean view only steps away. We couldn’t have asked for more and will certainly stay here on our next Newport trip.

Breakfast is the usual B&B spread of coffee and pastries, though there’s a good selection and you can make fresh eggs yourself if you like. Our room had a quiet split A/C unit, which is a rare find in a Newport B&B. The place is centrally located, nicely decorated, very clean, and well managed. We’d happily stay again.
