The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable enough that we slept well. Ours had two queen beds and felt a little small, though still comfortable. They were working on the property for the new owners and could use more time to get it just right. The front could use some more tidying up. Give it time, and I'd recommend staying here.
The three of us are Native American elders, and we stayed at Newport Bay Motel last weekend while going to the annual Nesika Illahee Pow Wow on the Siletz Reservation. We got the upstairs Family Room at a price that surprised us, and we ended up calling the well-planned suite our “SWEET SUITE.” We had such a good time that we already want to come back. The room had large windows with lovely ocean views, a sea breeze, and the sound of the ocean at night. We liked the decor throughout. Both bedrooms were private and cute, with carpet, comfortable bedding, and starfish and seashell accents. One had a smart TV and closet space. The living room was spacious, with a leather sectional, fluffy pillows, glass coffee table, wall decor, large smart TV with streaming channels, remote controlled ceiling fan, and fireplace. The kitchenette had what we needed for simple meals, including cookware, dishes, silverware, towels, cleaning supplies, a microwave, coffee maker, and a little retro fridge and freezer. The private bathroom came with toiletries, plenty of clean fluffy towels, a privacy curtain, bathtub, and a shower with two heads. Everything looked exceptionally clean, right down to the shiny faucets. We didn't see a single pest, not even a fly. Ashley and the motel management were cheerful and thoughtful from booking through checkout. They were friendly, accommodating, considerate, and funny, and took care of our needs. The service exceeded what we expected. The motel is on Oregon Coast Highway 101 in Newport, close to the beach, across from the hospital, next to Dutch Brothers coffee, and about five minutes from Walmart. They're renovating right now, but don't let that put you off. They also laid out a much better continental breakfast than we expected, and the coffee was delicious. We drank plenty of it. The stay made our weekend, and we didn't want to leave. Thank you, Newport Bay Motel and Ashley. See you next time!
We were traveling the coastal 101 attractions and stayed here for one night. Our room was surprisingly large, clean, and had a bigger refrigerator, which we appreciated. I liked it even more than the very nice inn we'd stayed at in Cannon City the night before. The woman at the desk was quirky but pleasant. We had to call the front desk to let them know we were there, but it all worked out. I'd stay again if we could get the same room.
I've been living here for a while, and it's been awful. The place is really dirty and infested with roaches. I'm surprised a health inspector hasn't come by. The staff aren't very good, either. If you need to stay in town, I'd look anywhere else.
This was a terrible experience for my family and me, and I wouldn't recommend the motel. We arrived July 19 and booked two nights with a man working there. Later, the owner called my stepmom to check whether we'd paid for two nights, and we said yes. The next day she claimed we hadn't paid for both nights and said we'd manipulated her roommate because he'd charged us less. Why have someone cover for you if they don't work there? We had receipts showing payment for both nights. We'd even made her and her roommate a plate of food the day before. She yelled at us and called the police. Thankfully, the officer was Mexican and understood us well. The woman was rude, and the place isn't anything special; you can find better. We left around 10 pm on July 20 and had to drive two hours home in fog because no hotels or motels had rooms available.
