Schooner Landing

We had ocean views from every room in our condo, and the place was big, peaceful, and had everything we needed. The views were beautiful, and I can’t wait to go back. It could use some work, but that didn’t affect the inside of the condo.

The two-bedroom townhouse was spacious and in a great location, but worn and dated, with badly stained carpet. We could live with that, though it’s worth mentioning. The pool we expected was closed because of construction. Laundry was only open from 9 to 5, when we wanted to be out exploring, so we ended up at a laundromat in town late that evening. Check-in came with no welcome information or Wi-Fi code, and we had to call the after-hours number. The next night, our key had been disabled and we had no way into the room at 9 pm. Staff said we hadn’t properly checked in, even though we’d used the after-hours number to get the lockbox code and key the night before. Check-in hours are very limited for people on vacation who want to explore, and the staff were rude. It felt like having paying guests was an inconvenience. I wouldn’t stay again.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious, and nicely furnished. There was free coffee, and the rooms didn’t smell moldy. No pool, and we didn’t get a good view. The screens had no nets, but we didn’t see any bugs. We did see lizards, coyotes, jellyfish, and crabs. The toilets were loud and slow to refill, while the shower just needed a little new caulk. There was so much spare toilet paper that we couldn’t take it all because our car was too small. The gravel on the way to the beach was slippery and I fell right away. At Agate beach, bugs came in with the tide and bit hard, and the dunes were difficult to walk across.

Schooner landing cancelled our reservation two days before the stay, even though we’d booked almost three weeks ahead. Really disappointing. From the other reviews, it sounds like that’s how this place operates. Don’t risk getting let down like we did, choose somewhere else. I’d give zero stars if I could.
