My Sarasota Getaway

I booked the trip a month in advance, but when I arrived that night, I was told the two-bedroom I reserved wasn't available and was given a one-bedroom instead, even though I had family staying with me. He said he'd refund the difference, but never did and ignored my calls. More reviews from other accounts and a review to the Better Business Bureau are coming. He still has a chance to call and fix this, but has chosen not to.

Cindy made the stay for us. She welcomed us with a smile, checked that we had what we needed, and even pointed us toward local restaurants and things to do. Our room was clean and cozy, and the location worked perfectly. I stayed at My Sarasota Getaway this past week and had a great experience. Thanks, Cindy. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway.

By the time I arrived, a woman told me they were overbooked. I’d called twice to confirm and was told to call back because the man handling reservations said he couldn’t access the computer. He claimed there was a front desk, but I never reached anyone there. I eventually confirmed with him a few days before, then spoke to him again the day before arrival. The place was run-down, in a busy, noisy area, and didn’t look like the pictures. In the end, it was a blessing in disguise.

After a long day of travel, we were exhausted and suddenly had to scramble to find somewhere to sleep. We’d booked weeks ahead and arrived around 7:30 at night. The manager was sitting outside on the patio in the dark, smoking cigarettes. She came over when we got out of the car and asked if we had a reservation, then went away and returned a couple of minutes later to ask for the reservation name. She then said they were overbooked, that this had been happening for the past couple of months, and that it had been a shit show. Thankfully, we booked through Capital One, so getting a refund should be easier. As we were leaving, cops pulled into the parking lot, and it looked like people had been living in the rooms. I highly don't recommend this place. Don't even think of booking it.
