Hampton Inn & Suites Bloomington-Normal

I filed an official complaint with Hilton about the room and the missing caution sign. I got a note back, but no one from Hampton contacted me to make things right. An apology is nice, but what exactly is going to be fixed? Based on other reviews, it seems like the owner thanks people without making changes. I wouldn’t stay here again, and this has made me wary of staying at any Hampton. I can’t see how it has this many stars when other reviews sound much like mine. On my last day, I slipped on water from melted snow in the lobby. There was no sign warning people to be careful. I reported it, and the front desk apologized and took a complaint. Less than 30 minutes later, I called because I’d twisted my ankle and needed ice, an ace bandage, and Aleve. They brought ice, Aleve, and gauze with 1 cm tape, so I had to buy my own ace bandage and more Aleve. Then I saw they had actually charged me for the Aleve I’d requested after slipping on their floor. My company was paying for the room, but they didn’t comp any part of it. I also asked for a late checkout after the fall and was told no, or I could pay half the room rate. I stayed from 1/14-1/16, after calling a day ahead to explain that I work nights and needed to sleep during the day. I asked for a top-floor corner room. They gave me a top-floor room, but not a corner one, and the noise was unbearable. Every day from 4 or 5 in the morning, I heard employees laughing and banging pots in the kitchen behind my first-floor room. I could hear people and employees using the bathroom at all hours. The room was dusty and dirty: toilet paper in the toilet, grease stains on the shower wall, dirt and fingerprints on walls and switches, hair and dirt on the closet floor, and dust balls in the corners. My computer was covered in dust the next day, and I had to keep wiping my laptop while I worked. Breakfast had good choices but no flavor. I had the eggs. Most of the workers were nice, but one woman at reception never said hi and snapped “what” when I approached. She had very fake-looking lashes, was on her phone, and acted annoyed that I’d interrupted her. This happened twice, on two different days, and my coworkers agreed she wasn’t customer-service friendly.

Breakfast was good, though the staff were unfriendly when we came down 10 minutes after 10. They let us eat, but weren’t welcoming. The pool itself was dirty, with trash on the floor of the pool room. The hot tub was broken, and the only notice was on the pool door. That was one of the main reasons we chose this location. This wasn’t what I expect from Holiday Inn, usually my favorite brand.

The staff were super friendly, and the location was great for what we needed. This one still has a hot tub, which is getting hard to find at Hampton Inns. Hampton Inns are generally affordable, usually clean, often have pools, and always offer a warm hot breakfast. This location felt a little rundown and needs some care. Things are dated, a bit dirty, and in need of maintenance.

Good value, with an AAA/HHonors discount. The rooms have been updated and were spotless and comfortable. There’s coffee, tea, cocoa, and hot cider available 24/7, plus a warm pool and a breakfast with plenty of warm options. The staff were friendly and professional. Jonathan and the other front desk staff were helpful and efficient, and it’s kid friendly.
