Cody Motel

My room was a good size, clean and comfortable, and it smelled fresh, not musty or smoky. The fridge was also bigger than the ones I’ve seen in most hotels. The bed and pillows were comfortable too. It’s a modest-sized, family-run hotel with friendly staff, and I enjoyed my stay. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

We found this place around 10:30 at night while driving through, and it was a very nice surprise. The rate was great compared with other places nearby, the owner was incredibly courteous, and both the room and bathroom were clean and functional. It was also very quiet. Coffee was available in the office in the morning, a nice touch. There didn’t seem to be AC, or at least no way to control it from the room. Even so, we were fairly comfortable in July. The owner mentioned she was retiring soon, so I hope the motel stays as good as it was for us. We’ll stop again if we’re in the area.

The bathroom deserves five stars, and the motel was clean, though old. My pillow was worn out and felt like a bag of socks, so I’m taking off a full star for that.

The rooms were nice and clean, but having no AC made this a deal breaker for me. If I’d known, I would’ve picked a more mainstream hotel so I could have a cool night. It stayed at least 75 to 80 degrees all night, even though it was cold in the morning. My room was far from the main building, so maybe it was just that room, but I’d ask about it before booking.
