stayAPT Suites North Charleston

This is my second stay, and it’s become my hotel of choice in the area. The staff, especially the general manager, have gone out of their way to make me feel at home. The rooms are laid out like little apartments, and the kitchens are handy if you want to save money or cook full meals like I do. The courtyard is clean and inviting, with a BBQ grill and gas fire pit. They’re pet friendly, but you wouldn’t know pets had been there. You can’t control every guest in a hotel, of course, but the staff do a lot to make the stay pleasant.

It’s easy to get to I-26 from here, and the location works well for Summerville, North Charleston, and downtown Charleston. The rooms have a full-size stove and fridge, a comfortable bed, a spacious bedroom, and a cozy place to sit. Everything was well cleaned. Outside, the courtyard has a propane grill and fire pit, and there’s a gym open around the clock. The service was phenomenal. Ms. Melanie was professional and hospitable, as were the office staff and housekeepers. Stay apt suites gets my recommendation.

We came from out of town to help with a big birthday party, and I was supposed to bring the cake and baked goods. The moment we entered the room, the air tasted stale and smoky. I couldn’t bring myself to handle food in there, especially the cake, so we didn’t stay. We arrived Wednesday night, during a holiday, when the front desk was closed until Friday. We found another place and mentioned the problem at checkout on Sunday. The attendant said management would call, but I haven’t heard anything. Maybe it was just our room, and an air purifier and dehumidifier could help. I’d wanted to like it. The online pictures matched, the front desk attendant was really nice and even called before we arrived to accommodate our early arrival. The bedding and mattress were basic, just a metal bed frame and mattress, but there was what we needed. The courtyard was nice, and the surrounding outdoor areas were very clean.

The room was pretty nice overall, but someone’s used soap was still in the shower and used pimple patches were stuck to the mirror. Gross, though I could clean it up and move on. It was hard to reach anyone on staff. Nobody seemed to be in the lobby, and the voicemail was full when we called.
