We stopped here overnight on the drive from Denver to Indiana. The hotel was a bit old, but clean and quiet, with a tidy breakfast area. Staff were friendly and knew the pet policies, and they showed us the best spot for our large, old, quiet dog to go to the bathroom. A lot of hotels get stuffy about her size, so that was appreciated. The room’s A/C worked well, and the bathroom was clean and functional, though the water drained a little slowly. I’d booked a king room with a sofa bed for our family of four, but there wasn’t one. The kids prefer sleeping bags anyway, so I let it go. There are lots of low reviews, but this isn’t meant to be a luxury chain. La Quinta is supposed to be affordable, and it was enough for our needs.
I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The property looks run down from the outside, and the rooms aren’t much better, though at least ours was clean. The bathroom was closet-sized, the door wouldn’t shut, and the tub and shower were tiny. Breakfast wasn’t hot, just a few grab-and-go items. I left a phone charger in the room and knew exactly where it was because I’d had to unplug their alarm clock to use the outlet. There weren’t any readily accessible outlets like at other decent hotels. I called the front desk, but they said the charger wasn’t there. I don’t know why housekeeping would take such an inexpensive item, but I won’t return.
SCAM! This hotel has been totally abandoned for about a year. The trees and bushes grew so wild that homeless people started camping there. About a month ago, a tree blew over and crushed the fence and a car in the parking lot next door. I stay at an extended stay next door, and there’s always something happening over there. Spooky.
The manager is warm and personable, and goes out of her way to keep the hotel clean, inviting, and running smoothly while looking after staff and guests. When I stayed, she welcomed me warmly and made sure I had extra necessities for my room. My room was clean and smelled freshly cleaned. I’ve also seen Jennifer spending long hours shampooing all the carpets and making sure the job is done right. They look amazing. Keep up the great work, Jennifer!
The staff were friendly and tried to help, but this was probably the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Our first room hadn’t been cleaned at all. The floor was unswept, the bed unmade, and there were no towels or soap. After we told the front desk, they moved us to another room, though we had to wait several minutes. That room had supposedly been cleaned, but it looked like the sheets hadn’t been washed. We had to get fresh sheets and pillowcases and put them on ourselves. There was a big red stain on the carpet, possibly blood. Soon after, we saw someone go into our first room. I’m not sure it had been cleaned before new guests got it, since so little time had passed. Our room’s smoke detector was wrapped in plastic, which surely isn’t up to code. Breakfast choices were poor too. I wasn’t impressed at all.
