North Miami Beach Gardens Inn & Suites

The AC worked, and the bed was okay. That's about it. The room had stains everywhere, a dirty table covered with dozens of baby spiders, and a toilet that needed its tank opened each time to flush. The front entrance and elevator were out of order, and the room key failed twice. We'd booked two nights but left after one. Nearly $200 a night feels outrageous for a place like this, more like a $75 hotel at best. I've never stayed somewhere this run down.

There weren't clean sheets, towels, or pillows, and the woman at the front desk told us there was no housekeeping. The online photos look good, but the room we got was old and nasty, with carpet that seemed never to have been cleaned. There was noise, cockroaches, and mold, and the night was a nightmare. I couldn't get a refund. This hotel feels like a scam. Just don't go.

The staff were rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. When we asked to cancel after seeing the room, they refused, with no help or empathy. I felt incredibly frustrated, uncomfortable, and disgusted, and wouldn't come back even for free. Save your money and stay away. This place should be shut down. The room was filthy, smelled awful, and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Even the bedding felt sticky and dirty. The halls were dark, humid, and creepy. Key cards worked inconsistently, so we kept going downstairs to get back into our room. The toilets barely flushed, and the AC sounded like a broken engine. The whole place was shocking. If I could give negative stars, I would. It's the worst hotel I've stayed in.

I didn't stay because being sent to a room that was already occupied made me feel unsafe. I kept wondering if somebody else might be checked into my room too. I'd tried staying here before and wasn't expecting anything special, but first my assigned room door was stuck as if latched from inside, and I couldn't get in. Then the next room I tried was occupied. My security deposit came back right away, but I had to email the owner to request a refund. They replied once to ask for the room number, then stopped responding. I still haven't received a refund, a refusal, or even an apology.
