Comfort Inn North Platte

We’re Platinum members at Marriott, but the nearby Fairfield cost twice as much as everything else, so we tried this hotel instead. We were glad we did. Staff were pleasant, the room was clean, the bedding was soft, and the water was hot with good pressure. Breakfast was pretty good, too. The scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy were heated properly and weren’t dried out, and there were plenty of carb options. We saved $70, and Marriott should take note.

The hotel was okay, but the room could have been cleaner. The carpet had sticky spots, so I couldn’t walk around in socks. Gross. The bed pillows are tiny, so bring your own from home if you stay.

It’s fine for a quick overnight stop, but that’s all I’d recommend. The pool and small gym are there, though the hotel and rooms are dated and need repairs. The room was relatively clean, but the freezer had a lot of frost buildup, and a large gap under the door let in plenty of noise. There’s no grassy area for dogs, even though they’re allowed, and the location right off the highway is good. At check-in, the woman at the counter was arguing heatedly with a customer who wanted to cancel and get a refund. No other associate came to help, so I had to listen to it for quite a while. After he left, she kept speaking negatively about him to me instead of checking me in.

I enjoyed walking over to the veterans memorial at sunrise with a cup of coffee to pay my respects. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was really good. The place is a little outdated, but for the price you can’t beat it. We’ll stay again.
