All American Inn & Suites Norwalk

Breakfast had the usual basics, plus hard-boiled eggs and surprisingly good sausage gravy with biscuits. There was limited seating, so get there early. The pool area was clean, the water was clear and not overly chlorinated, and the internet speed was reasonable. Our first-floor room and the hotel were clean and odor-free. Staff were friendly, though not especially sharp. My shower never got very hot, although nobody else in our group had that issue.

The room itself has been kind of gross so far. I found debris under the sink, in the jacuzzi, on the window sills and in corners, plus a small dead bug on the tile. The elevator reeks of piss, too. Still, the pool and hot tub were clean and at a great temperature. The bed is soft and comfy, and the in-room jacuzzi was great. The front desk service has been the best I've experienced. She introduced herself, explained the hotel and its information, told me when she'd be there, and invited us to ask questions. She's so nice. We checked in today and are staying one more night, and apart from the room mess, things have been good so far.

It's decent for the money, and I think it's worth the drive off the main highway. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and both the pool and hot tub were decent. It looks like someone is trying to bring back a hotel that used to be very good before it closed, and they're doing a pretty decent job so far.

We tried two rooms before deciding to leave. Both smelled of mold and mildew, and the rooms and hallways were disgustingly dirty. There were water damage stains by several outside walls. The beds were hard as boards and lumpy, hardly fit for anything but the landfill. When I politely told the front desk clerk the hotel was below expectations and we were leaving, she seemed miffed.
