Courtyard Norwalk

The king bed was VERY firm and left us waking up with sore backs. My 6’2” son was comfortable on the pull-out sofa, though, and I liked being able to ask for extra feather pillows. The room was beautiful and quiet, and everything was clean. We stopped at Cafe Dolce a mile away for breakfast, and it was incredible.

Autumn at the front desk deserves special thanks. She handled our room requests easily and was warm and ready to help. The staff made our visit wonderful.

The room was nice and dark for sleeping, and mostly quiet. It appeared clean, and the hot shower was nice. The beds, though, were uncomfortable: firm mattresses and flimsy pillows had me tossing and turning all night. I sleep soundly almost anywhere, so this stood out. More pillows would help if the ones provided collapse to nothing, especially if you have little ones. Nothing special about the place. The soap and shampoo were mediocre in quality, 39 North, the Marriott brand. Maybe it's just me. At checkout someone asked for coffee and was told it isn't put out until after 5pm, though there's a coffee maker in the room. Not the worst place, but hotels have better mattresses.

Below-average Courtyard. I've stayed here more times than I can count because it was across the street from my office. Some locks, windows, and TVs work, and some don't. They charge a parking fee and leave dogs in rooms barking. The absent owner doesn't give the managers on duty authority to make things right. When something goes wrong, John WILL NOT RESPOND, leaving staff accountable without the power to handle it. They blame Marriott corporate for bad policies and say charges are mandated, but that's not true. They charge New Canaan prices for a hotel in Norwalk.
