Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oak Ridge by IHG

The staff were friendly, and the lobby, breakfast area, and other shared spaces looked nice. The location was convenient, with lots of places to eat nearby. Our room was okay and a good size. The beds felt a little hard, and the bathroom looked dirty at first, but up close it seemed like wear and tear. Some upgrades would help.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with beds and a little sitting area with a couch and coffee table, almost like a mini-suite. A large bathroom sits on the other side, with perhaps too much space between the toilet and sink. There's also a second wash basin built into the living-area counter, along with a coffee maker and fridge, which made filling the coffee pot easy. Breakfast was pleasant, with the usual choices plus fresh pancakes and fruit. My only real gripe was the duvet. I find those heavy covers leave me too hot or too cold, especially in summer. I'd rather have sheets and a blanket. Even so, we enjoyed our two nights and would come back.

Our truck broke down while we were driving across the country with the family, which was a huge headache. The people at this place felt like one big family and helped however they could. They extended checkout and shared extra snacks with the kids. They were fantastic, and we had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

The hotel and room were clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, except for the pancake machine. It's starting to feel like the one at McDonald's that never seems to work.
