Budget Inn

On 10/10/24, Hurricane Milton left us without water, power, or Wi-Fi. The park where we live said it could be a few days before utilities came back, and people all over the area were looking for rooms. We were turned away at several places, so we drove north toward Ocala. We have little money, and my mom sent us some electronically to help. We finally found this motel, though neither of us felt right about it. My husband told the owner how important a clean room was because we both have breathing problems and I’m sensitive to some smells. He promised it was clean. Room 112 smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We were there less than two minutes. The next room was the same, except the smoke smell seemed covered with perfume. We didn’t sit on the beds and couldn’t stay, so my husband asked for a refund. He refused. We hadn’t signed paperwork, only got a receipt for $105.45 for two days. When I later contacted him, he said no, claimed he’d been in business for years and could do what he wanted, and told me to contact whoever I liked. He said I wouldn’t get the money back. I contacted the Better Business Bureau. $105.45 is a lot for us right now, and I’m tired of crooks taking advantage of people. The only good thing was that we went home and our power came back by 8 p.m. Now they’re saying they would have gladly refunded us. That’s a lie. He was extremely rude and said no. If they’re willing to make it right, refund the money. We urgently needed it and lost it over a room we didn’t use. Don’t trust this place, the bad reviews are right.
