We were in the area for a cheer competition, paid $220 at Quality Inn, and left within an hour of checking in. The room smelled, the sheets had stains, and I barely wanted to set my bag down. The pool area smelled too, and the chairs and only table by the pool were stained. They offered free breakfast, but if we'd stayed, I would have chosen to eat somewhere else. The name Quality Inn felt ironic for a place that seemed like a run-down Motel 6. It was supposedly recently renovated, but it looked like they had just painted over old fixtures. The woman who checked us in was pleasant, but Ashley(?) left a lot to be desired. My family moved to Towne Place Suites, which was FABULOUS. The hotel is refusing to refund us because they say we didn't raise concerns and give them a chance to improve. I explained that the problem was the hotel itself, and nothing could have fixed it that night. I'd still like to hear from the manager and get my money back, but my peace of mind and cleanliness matter most.

The people here were all polite and helpful, from the manager and front desk staff to the kitchen, housekeeping, and maintenance teams. The rooms are a decent size and the price isn't bad. It's an older building, so some problems still need attention, although most of the rooms have been updated. My one complaint is that housekeeping could clean more thoroughly, especially around the shower and tub.

Breakfast was included, but we ended up going out and paying for food because the waffle maker was broken with no sign, there was almost nothing left, and what remained didn't look edible. Getting back to the room at night was tough too, since there were more cars than parking spots. Our rooms weren't ready until nearly 4 p.m., even though check-in was listed as 3. When we arrived, Laurie wasn't very pleasant. She was training a new front desk employee, then left without telling her where she was going or what she was doing. The rooms hadn't been cleaned well, with stains on a chair, hairs around the sinks and toilets, and crumbs on the floor. One shower barely worked. Pulling up the knob felt like it might come off the wall, and the water pressure was very low. I wouldn't stay here again.

The young woman at the desk was really nice and helpful. But the room was dirty. There were marks and hair on the first bed, and although I couldn't see anything on the second bed, I was still scared to sleep in it. The tub and toilet were dirty too. This was a last-minute stay, and it reminded me to bring my own sheets, blankets, and bleach or other cleaning supplies. Even at the last minute, I should go to Walmart or somewhere to pick up bedding and cleaning supplies.

I also have photos of a Clorox wipe and washcloth after briefly rubbing them on the floor. The place was disgusting. I documented the dirt and poor cleanliness throughout the room and bathroom on video. The floors and bathroom in the first room were visibly dirty, so I reported it and asked for another room. That one was unsanitary too, and both the sink and shower drain were clogged, so taking a shower wasn't possible. These conditions were well below basic hospitality standards and raised health and safety concerns. I had been assured by the General Manager nearly ten hours earlier that the situation would be addressed, yet when I complained, “Rick” and the Director of Housekeeping wouldn't take responsibility. I was told that expecting a clean room on arrival was “unrealistic.” I was also troubled by the unprofessional conduct from management. I am formally complaining about my stay at the Quality Inn & Suites in Ocala, Florida. I would rate the property lower if I could, and strongly advise people to avoid this motel. Please review the complaint and take corrective action on the cleanliness failures and management conduct. Please confirm receipt and let me know the next steps. I can provide the video documentation upon request.
