Best Western Plus Ocean City

The view from the top floor was great, and there were snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby. We had a pleasant stay all around. The front desk staff, the people who came to fix things in the room, and the cleaning staff were all nice. The rooms were surprisingly roomy, and there were people in the downstairs waiting area late into the night.

The location worked well for us, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. Our room looked and felt clean. I enjoyed the stay and would definitely book here again.

The restaurant downstairs was the highlight for us, with good food, great service, and an easy option for a quick breakfast. We also liked the location for visiting Fager’s Island. A shuttle drove through the parking lot to the front of Fager’s Island, and it was an easy walk back to our room at night. The beach was a block or two away, including quieter spots, and the staff were friendly. But my partner and I both got sick during our stay at the end of July, and I still don’t feel back to normal. The room was a little dusty, and the AC smelled of mildew. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was mold in the room and that caused our illness, since we had the exact same symptoms. The pool was full of hair and bugs. After another guest complained that it was too filthy to swim in, I got out and used the skimmer to clean it for the other guests and myself.

The staff were kind and helpful, parking was free, and being so close to the beach made it easy to take the kids there. They loved the pool. It was cleaned each morning, and towels were replenished during the day. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was excellent, though lunch was just so-so. The room cleanliness was a letdown. At check-in, one bed had stained sheets and pillows with ear wax on them, and the previous guests’ trunks were left on the balcony. Housekeeping fixed those things right away, but it wasn’t a good welcome. The showers weren’t very clean, the showerheads had a lot of calcium buildup, and the bathroom floors still had visible sand and dirt. After one night, my son’s new socks were filthy underneath from walking on the carpet. I’ve rarely seen hotel carpet that dirty. They should consider replacing it in the off season. For what they charge per night, that would be a nice upgrade. Bring slippers or socks if you don’t want black feet. I’d return to the restaurant, but I’m not sure I’d stay again because of the cleanliness.
