The boardwalk is only a block away, and getting around by car was easy. The elevator was near the parking, and check-in was across the street in a different building. They use real keys, with a drop box for leaving them. We had to enter our room from the pool deck, which I imagine would be fine in warmer weather, but there was no iron or ironing board. My husband and I stayed for Valentine's Day and were going to a concert in Atlantic City. Hotel prices there were outrageous, so the 20-minute drive was worth the savings. The hotel seemed newly renovated, and our room was immaculate, brand new, clean, and comfortable. I'd stay here again.
They ended up moving us across the street to the suites, which were beautiful and much better than the first place. We appreciated being accommodated. The only issue there was that the room wasn't cleaned daily. We were there for two nights and it never got cleaned, and it also looked like some updates had been left unfinished. We had first planned to stay at the hotel called impala island across the street, but it didn't look like it would meet my expectations when we pulled into the parking lot. I checked in, got my mom and two kids out of the car, and went to our assigned room. It was messy and dirty. Housekeeping said something like she hadn't been there in a few days. Back at the office, they gave me another room, but as I went to open it, a staff member came out and said someone else was in there. I was dragging the kids around trying to work out what to do, since they didn't have any more rooms. Eventually they upgraded us to the suites across the street. Thanks again for helping us out!
My room was absolutely disgusting and very dirty. The key wouldn't work, and the Amazing staff ended up using a hammer to break the lock while my two kids waited outside the door. When I asked about cleaning, they offered me a broom. You can't make this up. At least give me one with a straight handle. I'll keep this review up until Domingo the manager does something right to make this place better.
The remodeled building and rooms look nice, and the location is great. We were only there one night, so the regular key that kept sticking was an annoyance but not a huge deal. Each time I came in, I spent several minutes trying to pry it out of the lock. My bigger frustration came when my daughter had an allergic reaction at 10 at night and I rushed to the pharmacy. When I got back, there were no parking spaces. A family staying at the sister hotel across the street was clearly using spots meant for the suites, even though the website says there are 45 spaces for 45 rooms. No one was at the desk, so I called and was sent to overflow parking a block or two down the street. The family told me the woman on the phone had said they could park anywhere. I had a sick child waiting, and I don't understand why the other family wasn't directed to overflow instead. If you're counting on parking in the building, you can't depend on it. At Ocean Manor down the street, the spaces are numbered for each room.
All we could smell when we arrived and headed to the room was marijuana. We unpacked, went to dinner and golfing, then came back and showered. After my shower, I walked around and my foot was black and covered in sand, even though we hadn't been to the beach. The next day we were tired of getting sand all over us. We asked the cleaning lady down the hall if she could clean the room. She didn't answer, just handed me a broom. My 77-year-old grandmother and I spent half an hour cleaning a room that should have been clean before we moved in. I hope the bedding was clean. My aunt went down the hall to confront the “cleaning lady” about handing a 77-year-old woman and her grandson a broom. The photos say it all. We'll never return to this hotel, and neither should you. Absolutely horrible!
