Mar Vista Hotel

The room could use a full update. Some wallpaper was peeling away, and there was just one dull picture. The bed was the hardest hotel bed I've ever slept on, so I won't come back. Still, the place smelled nice and was very clean, and the customer service was helpful and pleasant. I also appreciated being able to bring my two dogs.

The location is a strong point, just inside Ocean Shores, and you can get an ocean view. Our room was very clean. The pool was spacious and nice, though the Jacuzzi was out of order. The AC could heat but wouldn't cool, and the microwave didn't rotate, so food didn't heat properly.

We've come here a few times a year, but the upkeep has steadily worsened. On this visit the pool was closed. Staff said the website disclosed that, but it didn't. The site listed a $20 pet fee, yet we paid $30. Breakfast was also disappointing, with only biscuits and gravy, muffins, and little cups of apple juice. Our first room reeked of cigarette smoke, so we immediately asked to move. In the second, metal brackets stuck about five inches out from the bed frame. They were very sharp and hurt my wife, and we didn't feel safe with our kids near that side. The combination of hazards, wrong information, and poor maintenance has put us off staying again.

The owners were kind and gave us helpful tips about local places to visit. Our room was quiet, very clean, and had everything we needed, including coffee and tea. We had an amazing time and will definitely come back to enjoy what they offer. Thanks, Hotel Mar Vista, my new favorite vacation spot.
