Ocean Paradise Hotel and Resort

For the lower price and handy location, I’d consider staying here again. The second-floor room had a decent view, and having a private balcony was nice. Check-in was easy, though parking in back was a tight fit for my 2500 truck. The side entrance didn’t work, so I had to use another door around the corner. The fridge, microwave, TV, and heater/AC all worked, but the in-room coffee maker and bathroom dryer didn’t. The fan barely cleared any steam, and the mirror was completely fogged after a shower. The beds squeaked when you got into a good rhythm. Hallways smelled strongly of chemical cleaners and wall air fresheners. Breakfast was disappointing: cereal, waffles, bagels, toast, and fruit, and the coffee had run out and wasn’t replenished.

The mini golf course was there, though it was pretty boring, and the location is convenient. Still, the whole road is lined with hotels, and I wouldn’t stay here again. We arrived late to find a dirty bathroom, so we let it go that night. The next day we put out the room service sign. They changed the towels and emptied the trash, but left the sink, toilet, and tub dirty. The bed wasn’t made, let alone given fresh sheets. I asked the front desk woman the following morning to clean the bathroom, and she apologized and promised it would be done. When we returned at 10 PM, there were clean towels and the bed had been made with the old sheets, but the bathroom was still untouched. That felt disrespectful after I’d asked directly. We skipped the pool and spa because I didn’t want to find out how they were maintained if they couldn’t clean the toilets. I don’t expect much, just a clean bed and bathroom.

We had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely come back. The staff were friendly, and I even got to meet the owner, who was a lovely lady. The rooms were clean and nice, with the beds made so tightly you could bounce a quarter on them. The price was just right, and the amenities were great. I often forget my toothbrush and toothpaste, and Coratel saved me by providing those and more at no extra charge. We loved the continental breakfast too, it was worth every penny.

The room was old and musty, with stains, dust, and hairs everywhere. The shower barely worked, the floor was sticky, and there were sugar ants on the third-floor wall in the superior view room. Booking online led to trouble checking in both times. The ice machine was out of order, and the WiFi had no internet. Bring your own towels for the pool, since the employees were swimming in their underwear instead of replacing them. I’m disputing the fraudulent room upcharge. The front desk woman photographed my booking confirmation, but thankfully Booking.com sends a receipt. I called about the charge and it’s still there. I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you’ve stayed lately, check your bank statement. The new ownership isn’t good business.
