La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Odessa

I expected a one-night stop after getting stuck with nowhere else to go, and the low rating had me nervous. Instead, I stayed the five days I needed until my apartment was ready. The other guests nearby were quiet and kept to themselves, and I slept peacefully the whole time. There was no loud music or suspicious traffic. Coming back from work and errands, I always found my room spotless. Housekeeping was kind and professional, the beds were made neatly, the towels were bright white, and all my things were still where I left them. By the end of the first day, I felt at ease. The front desk staff were helpful and pleasant, breakfast was hot and good, and the price was very affordable. With everything else in my life feeling rushed and difficult, I didn’t expect to get so lucky. Thank you, La Quinta, for making a stressful time feel a lot more pleasant.

Josh is great, helpful, and willing to go out of his way to make customers happy. Athena is fantastic too, very soft-spoken and focused on making sure people are satisfied. Teresa is fairly new, but she’s nice. The managers are another story. Charlotte, the shorter, larger woman with reddish hair, is rude and seems to have an attitude with most people. She yells, and when there’s a customer issue on the 3-11 shift, she calls her husband to handle it even though he doesn’t work there. I think Charlotte and her husband may be staying on the property. Lacey is rude at times and seems to put people on the do-not-rent list for just about anything. There are hardly ever any drinks or microwave meals available. This will probably get deleted, but I hope people get to see it.

The room was completely remodeled, and someone clearly has good taste. We were in the newer building, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The in-room coffee was delicious, the shower was great, and the fridge and microwave both worked. Our puppy is a serious sniffer, and didn’t find anything to investigate, so the room seemed clean. The clock had been set wrong by the previous guest. It’s a comfortable place to sleep, with outside-entry rooms, Wi-Fi, and huge open parking lots. The pool wasn’t operating, though. The location is just off old 20, right in the ❤️ of Landman country. We love that show! Wyndam is our timeshare too, so I’m glad to see them buying up older hotels and giving them new life. A gem in the rough. Thx!

We called around 4:15 to book a room and were told one was available. The call got transferred to someone who handled the reservation, and we spent 15 minutes on the phone. We arrived about 23 minutes after calling, only to be told we were marked as no-shows and couldn’t have the room. The front desk woman said she’d been there and hadn’t received a call, then said she couldn’t rent us a room because she couldn’t print the paperwork. How was she renting rooms to anyone else? She didn’t seem to care either way.
