We were stuck here for five days during the ice and snow storm. It’s a fun place for kids, with an indoor heated pool and hot tub, playground, ping pong, and putt-putt golf. Our room was dated, but spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were polite. Not bad, especially for a family trip. The restaurant food was mediocre, and service was slow even though it wasn’t busy. They gave us the wrong takeout order once, so we had to go back. I think our server didn’t understand English very well. If you book an inside room and want quiet, remember it’s close to the play areas. The kids were noisy, though they seemed to settle down at a reasonable hour. Music also played for a while across the hotel from the pool area.

Even though we came from out of town for my mom’s funeral, my family and the kids had a great time. I spent about two hours playing miniature golf with my nephew, and the kids all enjoyed crawling around in the jungle gym.

The dining experience was a letdown. The restaurant didn’t meet what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel, and unfortunately the food affected our health. Better menu quality and cleaner food preparation would make a big difference. There were also problems in the room. We found roaches and bedbugs, which was surprising for a 4-star establishment. The tub was broken, had tape on it, and looked small and unclean. The couch was worn and needs maintenance or replacing. Housekeeping also tried to enter multiple times, even though I’d told them when I was checking out and put up the “Do Not Disturb” sign. It was unsettling. Staff training on guest privacy, along with better housekeeping and regular pest control, could make the stay much more pleasant.

It might not be the place to stay if you need quiet. There’s a busy train track right beside it, and the adults turn up on weekends. Still, for the price and everything included, I enjoyed my stay a lot. The rooms are somewhat updated, it’s pet-friendly, there’s plenty for the family, and there’s a buffet-style restaurant. A gas station is down the road, and the staff were lovely. At first glance you might think, oh no, but it’s honestly not bad. 10 out of 10 for me.

The free drinks were a really nice extra, and my three-year-old had a blast. I didn’t notice any pests, even though we definitely had food in the room. We’ll stay here again if we’re back in Odessa.
