Sleep Inn & Suites Odessa near University

I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and usually have good things to say, but this visit left me disappointed. They found my confirmation number quickly, yet the check-in process dragged on for no good reason, and I didn’t feel any courte

The check-in was quick, and the staff were consistently nice. From outside, the hotel looks good, too. But the air inside was awful. Each floor had its own horrible smell, partly chemical, which at least made me think it was clean. I doubt bugs could survive it for long either. I’m still dealing with sinus problems days later, even though I normally don’t have any. The stay might have been fine if breathing hadn’t been such an issue. The room itself had plenty of problems. The bed wasn’t comfortable, the pillows were tiny for the price, and the comforter had what looked like a mildew stain. The office chair was broken, while the lounge chair looked too dirty to set my luggage on. The carpet in the common area looked like the aftermath of a massacre that someone had tried to rinse away quickly. I tried the elevator once. The noise and vibration sent me to the stairs for the rest of the trip. It felt like a death trap. Most of these other issues could be overlooked at this price, but the air quality can’t. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, and I’ll avoid Sleep Inn. I’d rather pay a little more for a Tru or Marriott.

The hot breakfast was a pleasant surprise: it was great, the area was clean, and food was replenished as needed. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the young woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. We had a good one-night stay and would come back if we’re in the area.

The location is terrible, and because I booked a nonrefundable stay, I’m stuck here. The gym was a joke and smelled so bad that I drove 15 minutes to TruFit instead. I was also told there’s no direct HDMI connection for a gaming system or Roku unless you’re a regular. The room smells strongly of cleaning product. Its carpet is stained and poorly maintained, the bathroom door has a recently patched hole, and the little square pillows offer almost no support. None of the ice machines work. Wish me luck. Never again.
