The staff's kind hearts, along with fresh cookies and popcorn in the lobby, were the main reasons this place was okay. The coffee shop, Mexican restaurant, and burger place nearby were good and within walking distance. But the hotel has gone downhill since I was here about three years ago, and the new owner seems to be running it into the ground. The elevator has reportedly been broken for over a year, with equipment sitting outside it, and I helped an elderly woman carry her bags up the stairs. I can only imagine how busy the first-floor rooms must be with that extra demand. In our room, the toilet seat was broken, the bathroom tile was uneven, and the bottom of the door caught on it. The body wash and conditioner were empty when we arrived, but you only discover that once you're soaked. I saw only one person looking after rooms, so cleaning staff seemed limited. The stairwells smelled of chemicals, one like fertilizer and the other like bleach. The pool has been closed on all three visits I've made. Breakfast was a joke. The waffle maker didn't work for two of our three days, there were no eggs one day, and the microwave bacon wasn't great. I'm not sure there was a toaster, and the microwave was off or unplugged, so the oatmeal couldn't be cooked.
