SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Edmond

It's an extended stay hotel, so I judged it for what it is rather than expecting a Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott. The suburban neighborhood felt safe, the rooms and pool were clean, and breakfast was fine, with meat available. The price was decent, and I'd recommend it.

My room smelled like weed because someone was smoking in a nearby room. People smoked in rooms and hallways, and one man was smoking in the stairwell. I reported it to management, but he didn't care, and employees didn't care either. Each time I walked to and from my room, I could smell it and started smelling like it myself. Someone had also covered the smoke alarm in our room with a plastic bag. The holes in the walls were patched poorly and left unfinished. Never stay here.

The busy, nice restaurant next door was a plus, and the area itself was really good. But the building is old, dirty, rundown, and needs updates. The mattresses were soft with no support, and the maintenance work was very bad. The outside doors were all broken and wouldn't lock, so anyone could enter without a key. People lingered in the parking lot with their windows down and by the exterior doors. I got the impression some people lived there. Someone other than the current owner needs to buy this building and make it acceptable.

Thankfully, I found another hotel after leaving this one. The room smelled musty and like someone had smoked in it. I gave it a chance, thinking the smell might clear once the AC was on, but it didn't. There was urine and hair on the toilet and a press-on nail on the floor. I went out to dinner to decide what to do, then chose to leave because the hotel's overall condition made another room unacceptable. When I asked for a refund, they said to call the next morning because the manager wasn't there. The manager still wasn't on site then, so I left a message and called again several hours later. After another message, they called back within five minutes to say the manager wasn't coming that day and they wouldn't refund me because the room was clean. I told them I had pictures, but they didn't seem to care. Stay away. If I could give zero stars, I would.
