Extended Stay America Select Suites - Oklahoma City - Del City

My first stay at Stay America was excellent. It's a great budget option: the room was clean and everything worked, with no issues. I have nothing bad to say and will be back next week. Thanks for the clean room.

After becoming a resident, I had trouble with the policy on emotional support pets, especially while dealing with PTSD. They tried to add another $150 on top of the room cost, which meant I had to relocate. It was a really poor experience. Some policies need to change. It feels like all they care about is money, not the value of their clients and residents.

The room was dirty and uncomfortable. The floors in both the room and bathroom hadn't been swept well, the tub had hair in it, and the shower head was covered in grime, rust, and mold. The hallways smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The full-size bed was very uncomfortable, with the mattress on a metal frame like a cot instead of on a box spring. The only complimentary toiletry was one bar of soap. I didn't even risk trying the complimentary breakfast. Fresh linen costs an extra $1.98 per day for a resident. Management should provide more for short stays than for extended tenants. They also literally bang on your door on checkout day and ask whether you're "checking out or paying." My reservation was booked and paid for, but it wasn't saved under my name. It was under the name of the person I was traveling with, which caused confusion. There also seemed to be a heavy police presence at the location all the time. The place was god awful, like a city-funded homeless shelter, and I won't recommend it to anyone.

The staff were kind and helpful, and I felt safe staying here. The full kitchen is good, and the rooms are practical. But the bed is very uncomfortable and small, and having just one nightstand is inconvenient for a longer stay. There are gaps around the AC, though a towel covers them easily, and the TV is old and not very good. I'd give the room 3.5 out of 5 stars because of the bed and dated amenities. I'd recommend the place to friends and family.
