La Quinta by Wyndham Edmond

It was a pleasant stay, but the room had a strange mix of cheap men’s cologne and Fabrizio in the air. The bath towels were shredded and really need replacing.

The room was comfortable, and the location is great, with restaurants nearby and easy access to the highway. The staff were also really friendly. I’d have given five stars if the interior didn’t need repairs. My room could’ve used carpet, and the TVs definitely need updating.

The guy at the front desk was helpful and quick to respond, and I got a decent night’s sleep in the bed. The lobby and front areas were clean, which is why this gets two stars instead of one. But there were so many live and dead ladybugs and stink bugs in our room, plus sand spurs on the floor. I like that the room had luxury vinyl plank instead of carpet because it usually feels cleaner, but the bugs wiped out that feeling. The heater and AC kept running and made a loud, constant clunk. Staff came right away when we reported it, but couldn’t fix it, so we had to shut it off for the rest of our stay. The tub wouldn’t drain, leaving ankle deep water in the shower, and the torn curtain only just did its job. My biggest issue was how dogs were handled. The dog next door barked nonstop from 7 AM. I think dog owners should be on one floor. Bringing a pet is a privilege, and people with allergies shouldn’t have to deal with dog allergens in their rooms. They also allow dogs in the breakfast area. The milk in the fridge was expired, and the hard boiled eggs had been peeled before storage, which seemed unhygienic and left them shriveled and inedible. The bananas looked ready for banana bread, though the breakfast area itself was clean. We usually stay at a LaQuinta, so I’m not expecting a Ritz Carlton. The check-in agent was exceptionally nice, but the room had too many problems.

The room felt cozy, and the beds were really comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job each day, and the whole hotel was clean and well maintained. A good spot for a restful getaway.
