Bailey deserves a special mention for going above and beyond. She was responsive and attentive, and made us feel genuinely cared for. All the staff were friendly and helpful, which made our stay memorable. The lobby looked beautiful, and our room was clean, comfortable, and convenient. The location worked really well for us too. We had a wonderful stay!
Heather was especially attentive. Every morning she greeted me with a fresh, hot cup of coffee and filled my water bottle. Everyone was kind and looked after us. Chef Jason and Chef Lance also deserve a shout-out for the amazing breakfasts each morning. Excellent stay, such a great experience!
The location is handy for the canal and other venues, and the staff were pretty friendly. The nicest person we dealt with was the girl who helped us check out. Still, parking is atrocious unless you valet. For the price, I don’t think I’d stay again right now. The bedding and beds weren’t as comfortable as the old-school Marriott Rennisance ones I remember. It feels like you’re paying for the name instead of the luxury it used to offer, especially when there are other hotels nearby that are just as nice for much less.
I’m reluctant to leave bad reviews, since I’d rather give a business a chance to fix an issue than argue with a customer. But I found a similar account on TripAdvisor from December 2023, so I think future guests should know what happened. My husband and I stayed here on New Year’s Eve. He developed itchy bites on his hands the next day, and by that evening I had itchy bites on my arms and face too. On January 3rd, when I was confident the bites were from bed bugs, I contacted both guest relations and the hotel. The manager emailed that the room would be taken out of service for a professional inspection. On January 7th, I was told the room had been taken out of service and maintenance had inspected it without finding anything. They said a company would inspect on January 9th and send me a report. I followed up on January 12th, but no inspection had been done. A few days later, I contacted the health department. It wasn’t until January 22nd, three weeks after I reported the problem and more than likely because the health department got involved, that they had just that room professionally inspected. The report they sent said no bed bugs were found. I don’t feel they acted promptly or took my concerns seriously. It felt like they were trying to prove me wrong, when I only wanted the issue addressed in a timely, appropriate way. I liked this hotel and had stayed several times for both business and pleasure, which makes this disappointing. But I can’t risk staying somewhere that doesn’t take bed bug complaints seriously. If something similar happens to you, speak up and ask for a prompt, independent inspection.
The valet crew made our stay especially easy. Mason was friendly and professional, and really went out of his way to help. Everyone pitched in to get our luggage into the car. Such great service, we'd happily recommend them.
