The TV had no channel guide, which was a small annoyance, and there wasn't any filtered drinking water or a bottle refill option. The pillows were really thin, and the sheets felt thin and starchy, even compared with hostels I've stayed in. The worst part was the smell in my first-floor room. It hit as soon as I came in from the hallway, and seemed to be all over the room, bed, and air units or filters. It smelled like some mix of old smoke, dog sickness, and probably mold. One clerk said it would clear after the AC ran longer, but by day three it had gotten worse. The woman at the desk wasn't very attentive or understanding. John at the front desk came up and sprayed an air diffuser, which helped a little.

The room seemed fine until I dropped something and had to pick it up. There were several dead bugs and fake lashes on the floor between the bed and end table, plus some unknown substance on the bottom of the bed on that same side. I included pictures. The front desk woman was nice, though, and I have no complaints about her. She's the only person we spoke with, so that's why service gets five stars.

My wife has been coming here for over 10 years, three or four times a year, for the Sassy Scrappers Scrapbook Retreat. We usually book for the weekend, and I can only take so much of the hen party that happens in the meeting room. Reading reviews during this weekend's weather, I found some pretty entertaining ones. We've never seen bed bugs here. The place may be a little old, but it's clean and looked after. When we've had problems, staff handled them quickly and efficiently. Once a desk clerk was rude, but we asked for the manager, it got dealt with, and we didn't see that clerk again that weekend. No Inn, Hotel, or Motel runs perfectly all the time. What matters is how they handle the bumps. If you need someone waiting on you, all new rooms and stuff, or someone to wipe your behind, book a five-star hotel and pay $200-$300 a night. If you want a good night's sleep without breaking the bank, like I do, Sleep Inn is a good place to lay your head.

We were in the room for about three minutes before leaving, and it was so nasty we felt like we needed another shower. There were bedbugs, dirt, and a bad smell. When I showed the front desk clerk a picture of the bugs, he didn't seem surprised. He was polite and called his boss right away when I asked for a refund; they said they would give one. I'll never book here again.
