Little Miss Cottages

I wouldn't recommend this place. At 5:30 in the morning I woke up, walked into the living room, and stepped straight into a puddle from the leaking ceiling. After I got my reservation refunded, the office lady tried to reinstate it without my permission.

The location was a real plus for our birthday weekend mini vacation last month. The cottages are dog-friendly, reasonably priced, and close to downtown OOB, with easy walking access to the beach, restaurants, bars, and pier. We stayed three nights in cottage #10, and the cottage itself was decent. The bathroom was extremely tiny, the door wouldn't close all the way, and the shower was about the size of a shoebox. There was no AC or fan. They'd apparently removed the ACs for the season, which seemed premature since September can still be hot. It was 82 degrees when we arrived, and stayed in the high 70s to mid 80s and fairly humid. Sleeping was uncomfortable, and our pups were hot too. My boyfriend went to the main office two or three times during normal business hours to ask for fans, but nobody was ever there. We also had no paper towels or trash bags in the kitchen, just a roll and a half of toilet paper. The lighting wasn't great, and a few lamps didn't work. The cottages seem very dated, maybe from the 1970s, and could use some care and updating. The kitchen flooring was peeling. I'd give our stay 3 out of 5. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't perfect either. We might come back because the prices are reasonable and the location is good. I hope they take this feedback on board and address those issues.

The furniture and beds were comfortable, and the linens and towels were clean. Still, this was terribly disappointing, and I'll never rent here again. Cottage 173 needs to be gutted and redone. It might suit people looking to throw a drunken bash who have little or no concern for the property. We paid over $2,000 for three nights, plus a $100 cleaning fee. Our son and his family were visiting from Colorado and wanted to stay in OOB. Housekeeping did the best they could with what they had, but the bathroom floor was spongy, the old kitchen cupboards smelled, rugs needed to be thrown out, the bathtub drain was rusted, and the bathroom tiles were in disrepair. The bed sat so high that I needed a chair to climb into it. The musty, moldy smell hit as soon as we entered. I cleaned the filters in all three air conditioners, but didn't have the tools to remove the visible mold inside them. The wood floor by the front door smelled like a urinal, as if someone had peed there at some point. The Wi-Fi was terrible. There was no light over the kitchen sink or stove, and the bright LED ceiling bulbs made the kitchen feel like a mechanic's garage, no offense to mechanics. Some lamps had no bulbs. We had no potholders, one kitchen towel, and two garbage bags for the whole three-night stay. It took Hercules to open or close the sliding glass door to the deck.

The cabin was just as shown online, right down to the pictures, and had the necessities we needed. There was even a wine opener, one of those little things you don't think of until 11 at night. Staff were quick to respond, and Nicole and Cory gave us great dinner recommendations around town. We were traveling with our three-and-a-half-year-old grandson, and they were accommodating about our late check-in after business hours. They left extra sheets for the pullout and extra towels. The location was outstanding: out the front door, around the corner, and we were on the beach. They also granted our request to stay an extra night. We can't say enough nice things about the cute little cabin. Five stars, and we'll be back soon!
