Sun Retreats at Wild Acres

Our 9-year-old left her glasses in the cabin, and before we even knew they were missing, the staff called and offered to ship them back at no cost. Excellent customer service. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our four-night stay, and our cabin was nice, comfortable, well equipped, and mostly clean, though the floors were a bit dirty. It was in a quiet corner of the park, aside from the train. We had six people, including one child, in a pet-friendly cabin, and four more, two adults and two kids, at an RV site. It was great to have a comfortable place for the dogs to hang out while we went to the beaches. There was plenty to do nearby, including beach access via a parking lot and short walk, several pools and hot tubs, a fishing pond, trails, and bouncy things for kids. A few things are worth knowing: RV and tent sites are very close together, with no trees for privacy, and a train runs frequently near the sites, including at night. The park seems to cater mostly to seasonal residents, with owned cabins, RVs, and decorations, so it feels more like a small town than a campground. Those downsides didn’t spoil our stay, but it may not be the right fit for everyone.

After visiting for many years, I reserved a cottage for two nights this year. They required full payment up front. When a conflict came up, I called 10 days before the reservation and was told there were no options and they would keep the full amount for both nights plus the resort fee. I emailed the main office and got no response. After all these annual visits, I’ll look elsewhere.

A nice campground with plenty to do on the property. It’s in a good spot near downtown, and there's a shuttle to get you there.

The RV sites were so close we could nearly touch the next one, the bathrooms were putrid, and quiet hours might as well not exist. We came from VT with four adults and two children after hearing good things, but the experience was awful, and we left TWO DAYS EARLY. We couldn't hook up our septic or water hoses because the sewage pipe inlet was bent. Then it rained, and our campsite turned into a pond. Completely disappointed!
