Historic Whispering Woods Hotel & Conference Center

This hotel used to be one of the best in the area, so it’s sad to see how much it has declined. The overall stay, service, and cleanliness fell short. When we arrived, our towels were dirty. Another guest was already complaining about the same thing at the desk, and we found dirty towels in our room too. Staff did replace them after we reported it. We asked before heading out whether housekeeping would clean our room and were told yes. But when we got back around 2:00 PM, it still hadn’t been serviced, and we had to track someone down ourselves. There aren’t microwaves in the rooms, which was inconvenient. Guests have to use the one by the front desk, and that microwave was dirty. At the bar, the bartender served the gentleman who came in with us, but when it was our turn, we were told the computer was down and they were closing. That felt unfair and was extremely frustrating.

The location was great, and the conference center was beautiful. But it felt like they cared more about the conference center than the rooms. Ours was dirty, several outlets didn’t work, and I had to move the fridge to find one that did. The bed lights were out, our key card stopped working three times, and housekeeping never came. Someone’s personal towels from home were still in the shower, and we didn’t even get the room we paid for: we booked one bed but walked into a room with two. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. 3 out of 10, wouldn’t recommend.

The bed was comfortable, and the hotel was clean considering its age. But a spotlight aimed at the closed pool made my room bright as daylight all night, so I barely slept.

Other than the housekeeping issue, I actually had a great stay. I was here over three months and paid a total of 7,365 dollars. The taller housekeeper was the best. I ended up cleaning my own room, which I didn’t mind at first, but asking for service seemed to be a problem. I’m not sure who wants to keep asking all day for their room to be cleaned. When I finally met a manager because I needed a remote, he got smart with me, said I could check out if I wanted, and talked to me like a kid. He said housekeeping complained about my attitude. Today I tried to make another reservation and found out the manager had said I couldn’t stay there anymore. Is this how you treat someone who spent almost 8,000? You can tell from his responses to reviews that the manager is the one with the attitude. I did dispute a 163 charge because I’d just paid that amount, but when I realized I was wrong, I called to apologize. I also apologized to the housekeepers while I was there if they felt I had an attitude. But why should I have to clean my own room?
