Hilton Garden Inn Omaha Aksarben Village

The room and hotel were clean, housekeeping did a good job, and the space was generous. The area felt safe, with restaurants and shopping nearby. The lobby had plenty of room and a good range of snacks to buy, while breakfast was just the usual hotel fare. Sleep was the problem: the mattress was hard, the pillows were flat, and I got no sleep. The hotel was crowded, with noisy kids running around until nearly midnight, and the soundproofing wasn't enough. The pool also closed early because of unruly children, which was disappointing for guests who were behaving. I wouldn't stay here again.

We had a corner suite with a king bed over fall break with the kids, and really liked how spacious it was. The location worked well, with free parking at the hotel and a playground just a block away. A few things could be better: more shower pressure, TV choices beyond cable, and a light over the suite's kitchen area. None of that would keep us from coming back.

The room arrangements were confusing from the start. I had two rooms with different checkout dates, but nobody explained that at check-in or wrote the dates on the card holder, so I had to go back and ask. I also requested a change to the card for one room and was told it had been updated, only to find out later that it hadn't. The staff member eventually adjusted the checkout dates, but unclear communication made everything harder than it needed to be. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I wasn't given the standard welcome bag, even though I could see it behind the desk. Later, when I asked about water bottles, the same staff member said there were some in my room. Another employee was surprised I hadn't received a bag at check-in. I also wasn't told about the daily credit, so I didn't make full use of it. The person who checked me in was unfriendly. I wondered if her attitude had something to do with my mother's head covering, though maybe she was just having a bad day. The service fell well short of what I expect as a Diamond member.

This is the usual standard Hilton keeps at its Garden Inns, like the ones in KC, DesMoines, and Omaha. The location is good, right in the middle of Omaha.
