Stoney Creek Hotel La Crosse - Onalaska

It worked out well for a kids’ hockey team, and the hotel is comfortable and in a great spot near lots of stores. The pool was good. Breakfast was okay, though for a more expensive hotel I thought it was only comparable to an American Inn. The shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower didn’t work. All in all, a good stay. Thanks!

The room felt warm and inviting, with nice lamps, high ceilings, and comfortable beds. The bathroom was small but nicely decorated. What stood out most was how clean everything was, including the hallways. My room was spotless and even smelled clean, and the breakfast area was well kept. When I had a question or request, I texted the staff and got a quick response. There could be more parking, and next time I’ll ask for a room facing the nature area in back. A great stay at The Stoney Creek Hotel!

We had liked Room 135, the whirlpool suite, when we stayed in 2021. It was very clean and relaxing then, with everything hyper clean during covid. This time it wasn’t clean. After hosting Thanksgiving, we booked the same room for a night away, then added a second night when we arrived because a snowstorm was coming. On the second day I finally used the whirlpool tub. It felt lovely at first, but when the jets stopped I saw gunk floating in the water, including a dead bug. I got out and showered right away, twice, and then worried about what else hadn’t been cleaned. It was the weekend and evening, and they said there was no housekeeping available to clean it for us. I was really disappointed, since I’d been looking forward to relaxing in the tub after an afternoon of Christmas shopping. We also noticed the plate on our door wasn’t attached, so the door didn’t shut properly. I told the front desk and they eventually compensated us by reducing the room cost. I’ll check the jets before getting in from now on.

This was our second year here, and I’d told friends how good our Friday night had been. But when adult hour came and we went to the pool and hot tub, there was a sign saying they were closed. Last year the reason was “too foggy”; this year it didn’t look bad at all. Other people outside our group were unhappy too. We pay a lot for that 60 minutes in the pool area with adults only, and had spent a lot at the bar beforehand. It was 10 pm, so I don’t buy that it was maintenance. I’ll absolutely talk to a manager and ask for some kind of compensation. Not cool!
