Americas Best Value Inn

We paid $540 for two nights, and I wouldn’t stay here again. With the Auburn v. UK game on, hotels had raised their prices dramatically, and this room cost $270 a night. The shower water never got warm, the coffee pot was nasty, and the beds squeaked with old metal coils. The tub had dirt, hair, and old pink and purple stains. I asked a housekeeper to clean it after we checked in, but it still hadn’t been done when we returned that night. I asked at the front desk the next morning; she only asked for our room number and said nothing else. It was cleaned later that day.

I paid for a king bed, but was told none were available, so I took a smaller bed. That room was full of roaches. I asked to move, and the room next door had bugs too. When I asked for a room without bugs, they said I could have one for $25 more. How is that even legal?

A handy place to stop overnight on a road trip. The room was clean and smelled fresh. I’m taking off a star because the tub filled up during my shower and drained poorly.

I couldn’t get the TV working, so I missed the local weather. That matters a lot to me because I work construction.
