Castaway Motel

We stayed a few weeks ago. The room was clean, and I have no complaints about it. The location was great for us working girls. Just make sure to wear the right outfits if you're heading out for fun.

We ended up here at the last minute after taking a chance on the low Expedia price. We checked in very late, and the gentleman was nice. It was all very simple: the rules were on the window, and he repeated them too. We had room 212 upstairs. It smelled like fabuloso when we walked in, so we knew it had been cleaned. I checked the bedding with a flashlight and saw no stains, dirt, bugs, or anything noticeable. There was just a little dust under the bed furniture and a spot or two under the work desk. The bathroom was clean, and the towels looked clean too. We had our two toddlers with us, and sharing one of the king beds worked perfectly. It's also a few minutes from Disneyland. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we'll definitely come back.

I'm posting my review again to clarify what happened, because the owner's response to my earlier review included inaccurate information. My original post is in the photo section. I was in the room for only 15-20 minutes. I changed clothes, but put a towel on the floor because I wasn't comfortable standing on it barefoot. I didn't use the shower, amenities, or bed. Right away I saw cleanliness and sanitation problems: multiple stains and cigarette burns on the bedding, black residue that looked like mold and green discoloration in the shower, a stained bathmat, and sticky, unclean bathroom surfaces. I might not have realized how bad the bedding was if I hadn't pulled back the sheets. After seeing it, I took photos and went straight to the front desk to explain politely that I couldn't stay and ask for a refund. They immediately said no refunds, even though I had only been there briefly and hadn't used anything. The woman at the desk did try to help by showing me 4-5 other rooms, but they all had similar bedding stains and general cleanliness issues. To be clear, I didn't “use the room and then request a refund,” as their reply claimed. I refused to stay because of the conditions and booked another hotel that same night at my own expense. It's disheartening to see the situation misrepresented publicly, so I'm sharing the accurate timeline to help others make an informed decision.

The room felt safe and well cared for, and I'd definitely come back. I stayed at the family-run Castaway Motel last night and had a really good experience. The Indian family running it were kind and welcoming, and you can tell they care about the place. I got there around 6 p.m. and asked for an upstairs unit. They first said none were available, but after a friendly chat they gave me one, which I appreciated. My one-king bedroom faced the street. It was a bit tight with all the furniture, but had what I needed: a fridge, microwave, TV, and comfortable bed. The room was impressively clean, especially compared with another motel I'd stayed at the previous night. It's a cozy, affordable place, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere clean and friendly.
