Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim Orange

I attend a conference here but don't stay overnight, so here's how it is for commuters. The hotel provides good quality food, prepared well, and there's some food nearby, though you'll probably need to drive for lunch. There's plenty of lobby seating with wall plugs. If you're not staying overnight, parking in the hotel lot is free. Overnight guests pay for parking by phone through a QR code. WiFi is only available to room guests, unless your event gives you a promo code.

The staff were lovely and breakfast was great, but the rooms were gross. After a long day at Disney, we checked in late. Our first room had hair in the shower, possibly soap making the floor slippery enough that my son nearly fell, and an empty conditioner bottle. There was also a long curly hair around the toilet handle, food on the floor, crumbs on the sofa, and jam on the floor. I worried the room hadn't been cleaned and told the front desk. The woman was very sweet and moved us to a larger room. That room had a big clump of hair in the drain and an old Oreo on the floor. We were exhausted, so we didn't leave, and I didn't ask to move again because it seemed like this counted as clean. Maybe my standards are too high, but I don't think hair should be left in the shower or floors left unvacuumed. The jelly hadn't been smeared and the Oreo wasn't broken, so they should've been easy to spot. For what I paid, plus $32 for parking, I expected a clean room.

The exterior, staff, and breakfast buffet were all excellent, but our room was concerning. It smelled musty as soon as we checked in. At first I thought that was just because the room was old, then we noticed several large areas of mold around the windowsill. The building's age doesn't excuse that kind of neglect. Management needs to do a better job cleaning and maintaining the rooms.

We used to have really good stays here, but this visit was disappointing. There was trash between the couch cushions and on the floor, and the room wasn't very clean. Some breakfast buffet items ran out and took a while to be refilled. One cook was rude, and the guy clearing tables just stood around talking with coworkers. Only one elevator worked during our stay, so every trip to our floor took a while. I hope they can get the hotel back to how it used to be.
